The question isn't whether McGree is qualified it's whether she's MORE qualified that people with previous exec experience and MORE involvements on campaigns than she has.
Bianca, Jacquie and Magda all have far more experience that she does.
Moreover, one of the primary roles of the EVP is to be in charge of committees: what committees was Danielle a part of last year?
Can she name what those committees were? Why didn't she join them if she wants to be EVP so much?
Was she on the Constitutional and Legal Affairs Committee that Kayla ran? If not, why not? The EVP is constitutionally mandated to chair such a committee and the EVP should have expertise on constitutional issues and the OYL constitution in particular. Danielle would have done well to get her feet wet by joining that committee if she was interested in this position.
Was she on the Communications, Policy or Women's Issues Committees? If not, why not? And why does she want to be EVP then if she wasn't?
Wouldn't she be more well suited for a position lower on the ladder like Magda and Jacquie have already held? And why didn't she run for a position this year?
Quite honestly should would have made a great recruitment director I think.

I'll add as well that she does have more experience than those who currently hold recruitment, riding and student director positions, but up against the others running for EVP she's just outmatched.
She should have run for a posiiton herself this year, she would have won against Pia Marin (riding) or Samantha Smitich (recruitment) I'm sure. Then next year she would have been well qualified for EVP. But up against the competition now? Sorry, it just wouldn't be fair.

McGee is up against Danylo here and she endorsed Danylo for student director very recently.

Actually, Danielle did not endorse Danylo for student director. I don't believe she voiced which person she supported.

Jacquie Alderton has the votes and she'll be the next EVP. She's been on the executive before, been a riding and campus club president. She'll do an excellent job.

Alderton's had it in the bag from the moment she put her name forward, why did anyone else even apply?
Don't they know how these things work? Alderton worked for OYL Beyond last year and now the favour can be returned now that OYL Beyond controls more than half the exec. I mean no one really believed this OYL exec would be any different did they? I guess some have to learn the hard way.
I hope the others didn't spent too much time lobbying and working on their applications because no matter how qualified they were they never stood a chance.

If Jackie or any other of the people who have put their names forward win this election, I am sure they would do their best with the position.
But let me just respond to comment that someone "has it in the bag" or to the comments "Dont they know how things work".
We all know what happened at the AGM-this is why we are in this situation -we saw how things happened when people make the claim that "its just the way things are".
I dont think the majority of Young Liberals want to feel that there is such a 'cliqy' nature involved with the OYL. It turns good people away from our organization; good people that we need to be involved.
I think this executive will make an informed decision this time. They know the membership wants to see changes made and I can't see how anyone would want to turn away from making positive changes.
I may not be a part of any "clique" or "slate", but I feel I'll be given fair consideration for the position based on my track record of experience.
Afterall, if experience counts so much, I am a very viable candidate.
