Gravatar I couldn't agree more. Music companies know that people are willing to pay more for DRM-less music - their own studies show that. They should also start treating their customers with some respect. Backups for personal use have been a problem conceptually for the music industry for a long time - after all it stops them selling you another copy... Be real. Copying is easy, and it should be unnecessary! If you have paid for your music and it is stolen, what should happen? The music company should 'give' you another copy. (I have no problem paying a reasonable admin fee [measure is cents] to pay for record keeping and bandwidth). This would be an improvement over the CD days - I have had many CD's stolen from vehicles over the years...

But wait - aren't the record companies losing out - after all the thief now has a copy!? Err 'no' actually. The thief was never going to pay for his copy anyway... If he/she really wanted it there's always Kazaar or many other ways (in
