No need to blame all undergrads for the mess that is the A-level. And seriously, we undergrads know the stacks at least as well, because many of us have had jobs shelving books there (jobs which, incidentally, help pay for the U of C's massive graduate school), and many of us take classes--both grad and undergrad--which require a great deal of research.

I note that neither Victor's nor Andrew's original posts identified the relevant distinctionn as being between grad students and undergrads; that was a gloss put on them elsewhere. Victor talks about locals and newcomers, defined with reference to tenure in the Reg-- but he hasn't been here any longer than a senior in the college, with whom he might be able to bond over the whippersnapperishness of first-year undergrads and grads alike.
