Filipino Librarian

Gravatar hi there!just wanna say thank you for your website.what u said about our filipino public librarians are really very true.Only very few took
units in library science. And it's very unfair to some of our licensed librarians like me.I'm currently working in a private institution and i have this great plan to transfer to the public school or to any government office which has a library but then it seems its too difficult coz there is already an assigned librarian who could be a close relative of the mayor or the principal, wherein the said assigned librarian is not even a library science graduate. It's too difficult to accept that reality because in our place there are only very few licensed librarians. After passing the exam,I thought getting a stable job is easy but then still it's too dufficult because at the moment i'm not yet a regular employee though i'm earning a good salary because the school where i work is the only school who has the biggest salary rate.I can only be a regular employee if i can finish my graduate studies as part of the policy of the school...I don't know how the government resolve this problem. What's the use of the licensure examination if the same proplem arises to all the licensed librarians??????Pls do reply.thanks and God bless.More Power!!!!

Gravatar jenie: thanks for commenting on this very old post. the best answer i can give you is: i don't know. but there is hope, so don't give up. if you're feeling brave, you can report these government institutions to the civil service because individuals working as librarians MUST be licensed. if not, i suggest that you at least network with the other licensed librarians in your area so that you can figure out what to do as a group and support each other when things become difficult. and if you reply again, i hope you will leave an email address =)

Gravatar hello there! i am thankful that for your website, atleast i could say something in me that i couldn't express to others. I am working now as a Head Librarian in one of the private schools in Agusan del Sur. Yet my salary here cannot compensate with my personal needs as well as the needs of son. Thanks that i have still with me my parents who support me the time i need them. I just wanted to say this because in my part it is very unfair because in the first place im a licensed librarian but then they did not give credit to my license, another thing is that they given me extra load to teach even they did not pay me for such. I wanted also to apply in the Public Library but there is already a librarian applied who is not a library science graduate, who doesn't maybe even know how to catalog, subscribe and other thing which the librarian usually does.
Thank you very much for the time and space given. I hope you do reply with my message. Thank you very for the time and space given. God bless and more power!
