dave: i was assured by the board for librarians at a forum last april that re-takers, regardless of degree, will be able to take the exam.
Wow! I didn't know that librarians have to take a board exam. Please pardon my ignorance, and thanks for the information. I learned something new today.

we graduate with that course and we expected that we can take the board for the first and last exam...

its really depressing specially to those who graduated last March with BSED LS majors can no longer take the board exam...so what will this grauates do?look for anohter majors to take and apply for LET?...i hope PRC will allow this graduates or the last batch of BSED with LS majors this nov...

edith and beverly: the more important question to me is why did your schools continue accepting new students for your course even though they knew you would not be allowed to take the board exam?

ng try ako apply dito sa PRC in my place last july , eventough i knew already that non BLIS can no longer take the exam...I just submited all the requirements together with other docs.Tinangap nila application ko pero FOR THE BOARD pa nga lang...i hope, i just really hope pwede pa...but i didnt expect that PRC didnt knew about it.zipped nalang mouth ko..

halu edith, im from mindanao...still waiting sa application ko..i dont know when, but PRC told me that they will inform me immediately whatever will be the outcome of my application..
I wonder why some of our colleges & university did not change the program name to BLIS & MLIS right after d law was approved..felt pity for those who graduated last march 2009.

Hey guys it was already clarified by PRC BFL that RETAKERS on last years exam will be given a chance to take this Nov. 2009 for the last time...hope you make it this time...

I am an MLS graduate this year and I was already taking the intensive review in UP for the licensure exam. No one can really answer me when I ask them if I can or cannot take the exam however they were very helpful in connecting me to some people in PRC who also cannot give me a yes or a no. Since I am not from Manila, I decided not to continue with the review, go home and self-study and if ever allowed, which is unlikely, given the memo above, then I will be a bit ready. I took the MLS having the RA 9246 in mind but I thought 09 will cover the exam this November, but well, I will just have to wait until the PRC evaluation since, some are still saying, there is still hope although I am not too hopeful.
I just wish that PRC and the Board will get their acts together and not leave room for confusion. There is a flaw in the system. And schools too should know what to advise their students.
