I think this quote from the Highlights indicates how useful (or not) this volume will be to Filipinos interested in an objective view: "Offers a world-based view of the war, with significant coverage of Spain and other nations involved in the conflict."

Nowhere is the Philippines mentioned as an entity. This is about the US and Spain conflict and one object (the Philippines) of it. I have not read it either, but it is obvious that the Philippines remains only incidental. Useful? Doubtful!
