Im not often at a loss for words.
But I found myself sitting here staring at an empty comment box, utterly unable to think of anything I could say that would do justice to your post, except....
Thanks for being you, Alex.

The irony in all of this, is that the utterly contemptable Rush Limbaugh was a draft dodging coward when he had his opportunity to be a patriot.
Go here, then search on "Limbaugh": http://www.awolbush.com/whoserved.html
I hate these blowhard bastards, while it is their right to express an opinion, somehow, I don't think they have ever earned it.

Oh, and one more thing. I guess I was a really stupid phony, when I was 17 years old in 1965, we all remember 1965 when there was some action going on in Vietnam, I enlisted in the U.S. Navy. I guess I just wasn't as smart or real like Rush.

Alex,
Great article. Those EOD guys are such phoneys!!!! Geez!
When I was in EOD we would walk uphill (both ways) in the snow (in Iraq) to disarm IED's with our teeth.
(ok... total snark... but articles like this either make you be snarky or cry).

Thank you, Alex. My son just finished his first tour in Iraq. He enlisted at 19 wanting to "go over there and help those guys," because I raised him Republican.and the side-effect was that, because he's male, I guess, it made him blindly patriotic and gung-ho, a lot like the young veteran who wrote "The War I Always Wanted." I desperately regret the mistake I made, which my son is paying for. God bless you guys. I pray every night for every one of you, including those we've lost, and for this to end. I won't stop until the "war" stops. It is unacceptable, and I am not accepting it.

OOPS, got emotional and forgot to write my name. That's me right above, the Soldier's mom and ex-Republican shown as "Anonymous."

Teri - I think everybody all along has always done what they perceived to be the right think to do at any given time - except the people in power who KNEW they were sending troops into a war based on lies. Please don't beat yourself up too much...

A PRAYER OF WAR AND PROFITEERING
Heavenly Lord, the profiteers
Belong in hell, for endless years--
Since Congress seems unable to
Act we must leave it up to you.
Check out the vote, and count the tally
Of names Republican that rally
In order to condone a fraud--
It is not right or just, by God.
Waxman´s amendment tried to fix--
That´s number 746
For an example: read it plain,
Then note the vote and sigh again.
Lord, with this kind of government--
Obstructionist in their intent
So many--how can long survive
This nation? No, it has to dive.
Refer again, as name by name,
You note the vote, and then exclaim
Which faction is obstructionist:
This land is by corruption kissed.
Heavenly Lord, please damn to hell
War-profiteers, and those as well
That smoothed the facile path for them:
Do unequivocally condemn.
There is no hope for justice here
Within America, that is clear,
Because this body insincere
With profit will not interfere
When even it has come by fraud:
Therefore I pray, condemn them, God.
