Sound off like you got a pair!

Gravatar I have really been irritated by something: I have heard countless people polled in the Media make the following statements... "I voted for Hillary because she's a woman" or "I am giong to vote for Obama because he's black"

The Media is openly airing these statements which are clearly sexist and racist. Can you imagine a white man at an exit poll say he voted for McCain becuase he's white? The Media, Jesse Jackson, and Women's Rights would be all over that shouting and screaming.

But correct me if Im wrong, isnt voting for Hilliary because she's a woman just as sexist as not voting for her for the same reason???

Not voting for Obama because he's black is racist.... but no more than voting FOR him because of the color of his skin.

Gravatar AMEN. Exactly the point. Those who play the "race card", do so on racist terms. You can't have it both ways. Either you want "equality" or you want "special" status. What he said about affermative action was right on. Affermative action, by its very nature relegates its recipients to a permanent 2nd class status. It's the Barry Bonds home run record breaking baseball of the civil rights world...."Yeah, this is the ball that broke the record, BUT..." "Yeah, I got this great job...BUT". Who the hell wants a controversial descriptor applied to their job title? Run on your merits. Run on your qualifications. Run on your abilites but damnit leave your skin color out of it if you really want to be considered "equal".
