Great post Jinja but has South Africa really "fought for a century or so for women's rights". I think most of the time was spent either thrashing pasty English bottoms in the Boer war or sending ANC members to live on an Island guarded by shark infested waters.
I think I know where you were trying to go with this though.

J-Z and his supporters have now personified the new SA......"it's ok to be a criminal, if I have enough supporters I can get away with murder...sorry I mean't rape."
It would have been interesting to see what the supporters would have doen if he was found guilty. I wonder if they had anything to do with the outcome.
I agree Fuck em all, motherfuckers.

She was a fucking looney in any case. As Seth from 2OV said, statements like:
"Ja, look, the one time I got raped but don't recall it actually happening and therefore don't know who it was."
and
"But I had an abortion and my mother saw the 4 month old foetus and said it resembled my boarding house master"
Deshroyed her case.

Somebody said my name! That altercation with the aptly-named Nick die Prick was pretty entertaining, wasn't it?
My thoughts on this: Stop fucking moaning about the acquittal. I followed the case closely, and put myself through the agony of watching Judge Willem van der Merwe's entire summation and judgement, and the only conclusion I can come to is that the judge made the right decision.
Like most liberal democratic countries, our courts operate on the principle of "innocent until proven guilty". That means that if you are accused of a crime, the onus is not on you to prove your innocence, it's on the state to prove your guilt beyond reasonable doubt. Put simply, the state's case in this trial was NOT strong enough to prove Zuma's guilt beyond reasonable doubt. In light of this, the judge really had no choice but to acquit the guy.
Some are already complaining about this system being used for rape trials, which are inherently difficult to get convictions for because it usually becomes a he-said-she-said type of thing. There's talk of making the accused have to prove his innocence. My response? No fucking way. Trust me when I say that when you're falsely accused of rape, you are extremely happy to know that you're not presumed guilty before the trial even begins.
Now don't get me wrong, Zuma is a fucking scumbag, and I would like nothing better to see him behind bars for the rest of his life. But we need some perspective here, and as distasteful as it is we need to acknowledge that the judge made the correct decision. Hey, it's even possible that with his limited intellect, Zuma really did think the woman wanted to bone him. It's a common mindset amongst those addicted to the trappings of power - they believe no woman can resist them.
But worry not, the rape trial was a bizarre but unexpected sideshow, and I personally never thought the state would get a conviction from it. Still, it wasn't exactly a bad thing, as it exposed Zuma's callous idiocy to the entire world. The real show is yet to come, namely the corruption trial. Unlike the rape trial, there is a VERY high likelihood of a conviction in the corruption trial, thanks to Judge Squires' sterling summation in his conviction of Schabir Schaik. My prediction? Zuma will be found guilty of corruption, and his presidential ambitions will be over.
Just my 2c, keep up the good work guys.

Yep, his supporters are pretty fanatical. Perhaps we could register it as a new religion? Zuma-inity, Zumaism or something.
But they're predictable. They'll back their man against all challengers, regardless of who they may be. If Zuma were to get bitten tomorrow because he went to the KNP, jumped out of his car and fondled a lion's ballsack, you can be dead sure his supporters would blame the lion, and say it was asking for it.
The big question is how big is Zuma's support base? It often seems huge, but it's worth noting that only 1000 or so people turned out for the final day of his trial, and they had to bus many of those in from KwaZulu-Natal...
Personally, I think his support isn't as big as many believe. I also think that the ANC's decision-makers have already decided they don't want him to be president, and they're just trying to figure out how best to do it without alienating whatever support Jay-Z does have.
Can't wait till the corruption trial though.
