Please, send Lightfoot a one way ticket to the US. He is un-Australian and an embarrassment to the country. The simple fact is that we consider him to be part of the loony right. He does not, in any way, represent the majority of Australians, and we will be pleased to see the back of him.
I have lived in perth,western australia for nearly 30 years(ex NZ) and I can tell you that ross lightfoot is a very rich,right wing arsehole who has been implicated in several financial scandals and is a career politician on the public teat.
But,he is a tough c..t,when he visited norfolk island,an australian posession that has recently been exposed as a dysfuntional nest of murder and intimidation-the local boys fired a few shots outside the motel room of the visiting senator from the feds in canberra...
He didn't flinch-fu.k em ,he said.
Incidentally,his wife with a hyphernated name works for him,probaly another another 80 grand a year for her,poor taxpayer.
The real problem with lightfoot,is his long standing claim for kurdish independence-not a US priority!
The other embarrassed party is woodside petroleum, a very succesful WA company.I worked,building their very flash 24 level tower block last year-they pay mopnies to various local groups all over the planet.
Western australia is like texas,we are a mineral rich state,much bigger than texas!!
We have gold,silver,copper,diamonds,coal,vast reserves of gas,vast reserves of iron ore,many of the minerals used in modern telephony and computers-we are the texas of the future,with the same hot,dry climate here in perth.

Lightfoot is a crank, always has been and always will. Go back to some of the stuff he said around the time of his maiden speech (Aboriginal Australians as the "lowest colour on the racial spectrum" or something to that effect) to realise that he has all the political judgement of Hanson with testosterone.
The descriptions of Lightfoot as a fool, an idiot, a cowboy etc do not do his REAL significance Justice. He is a racist (ref his comments about Aborigines), he exploits his political position for personal benefit, and for the benefit of his "mates", and he is a coward.
I too wish he would piss off to the USA. He'd find great political and commercial comfort among the Texans.
