Kanye may be the Streisand of race relations, but it doesn't mean he was wrong. The real point here is that NBC tries to stick a respected black artist up there and have him deliver an uplifting message that has nothing to do with reality or what he thinks.

What are they so afraid of? Black people realizing how f---ed their situation actually is?

Say what you will about Kanye--at least he won't play puppet to NBC's puppeteers.

Gravatar Zeke-

You're on glue. The sponsors and broadcasters of big charity events should not be expected to let every participant use the event to further his own political agenda.

This is like the Academy Awards clamping down on actors who want to turn an awards ceremony into a series of political rants. But this is worse, because the Academy Awards show is just a Hollywood mutual masturbation-fest, while Hurricane Aid was actually trying to do some significant social good.

If West doesn't want do his part just to entertain and help raise some money for the needy, he shouldn't appear in the show.

As NBC said, "It would be most unfortunate if the efforts of the artists who participated tonight and the generosity of millions of Americans who are helping those in need are overshadowed by one person's opinion."

You don't have to agree, but you do have to engage the discourse empirically. Forget about the opinions. Take it to the numbers.

Gravatar I think it's nice to see a celebrity with their own opinions for a change. Even if they are stupid ones. Plus it was all worth it for that retarded look on that mongoloid fuckpig Mike Myers' face.

Gravatar The look was great. But Kanye's got to grow up. He needs to be more responsible with his influence instead of spouting riotous speech.

Gravatar kanye is an ass and doesn't know how to make his fame work for his people.

Gravatar Your comments are very naive and expose the prejudices that many conservatives harbor towards anyone who is “different” than them…. why don’t you open your eyes and take a look at the world around you and realize that not everyone is lucky enough to be white and wealthy. Kanye spoke out for many of those whose voices are not heard… whose opinions are considered irrevelant because they are poor and live in the “ghetto”… and unfortunately, as long as Bush remains president, no progress will really be made.
