This is deliberate and is entirely consistent with all the "worst case" possible motives the administration might have. It will not stop as long as this president and his party (in its current hi-jacked-by-communist-radicals-like-Soros state) are in control. They've still got a large portion of the public duped. So we can expect lots more of this. With Obama, we've gotta understand that every bit of "spending" is really intended as another round of "redistribution". Just wait until the Cap and Trade bill starts getting into the news cycle. Then we'll all be able to see that redistribution attempt more obviously.

The rEVOLution in the WSJ this morning.
Wall Street Journal: The Man Who Predicted the (Great) Depression
Ludwig von Mises explained how government-induced credit expansions led to imbalances in the economy.

“With interest rates at zero, monetary engines humming as never before, and a self-proclaimed Keynesian government, we are back again embracing the brave new era of government-sponsored prosperity and debt. And, more than ever, the system is piling uncertainties on top of uncertainties, turning an otherwise resilient economy into a brittle one.
How curious it is that the guy who wrote the script depicting our never ending story of government-induced credit expansion, inflation and collapse has remained so persistently forgotten. Must we sit through yet another performance of this tragic tale?”

I believe the Independent Institute with Robert Higgs does its own estimates.

Most of those defense budgets don't include the department of energy (nukes)

and

veterans affairs (the VA)

and

about 10 other agencies.

The Defense Budget is larger than appears.

qs,

Interesting alternative calculation but it doesn't change the story much. Even with the most liberal interpretation of defense spending, Obama's porkulus is right up there-- and then if we throw in Obama's AIG, Fannie/Freddie, GM, GMAC, etc. bailouts, it vastly exceeds all defense spending.
