Muslim moderates need to worry less about simply condemning the radicals and more about articulating a moderate, peaceful theology. That will require grappling with the embarrassing episodes in Muslim history --- which like the history of any people or nation, has its dark patches, too; e.g. the Conquests of the 7th-8th century. They will also need to deal with Muhammad's warring and fighting and find an appropriate hermeneutic for the 21st century.
