Sorry, you missed the point. Calling Bush a conservative at this juncture is a twisting of the word that goes beyond any form of definition. Especially with deficits as far as the eye can see and an Imperial dream of Pax Americana.
When it comes to theology, Moyers is talking about an Apocalyptic worldview that uses selective theologies integrated with an Ideology of America as a “city on a hill.”
His point is that Bush's attitude is that since there is no future, no legacy, why should we care about the present?
This is, and always has been, a bad way to run things. It's not a new idea, it is just new in a modern major power like the US.

The problem, Michael, is that in Moyer's piece, he mines out the freakest, fringiest element of Christianity and the transfers the image to the rest of Christians. That is, and always has been, a bad way to win your moonbat arguments.
