I used to think daytime TV was silly because everybody on the soaps was always suffering from amnesia, which I thought was actually quite rare.
Turns out I was wrong, as amnesia is rampant, especially at the S & S and everybody in the DFL.
Anybody remember who declared Reagan's budget proposals "dead on arrival"?
Tip O'Neal, Speaker of the Democrat-controlled House.
Why were they so declared?
Because Reagan's budgets were too frugal. He wanted to CUT spending at the same time he reduced tax rates, which lead to wacky ideas like eliminating the federal Department of Education, so he could "pay for" the tax cuts and shift spending to essentials like defense to win the Cold War.
The deficit occurred because Democrats in Congress spent more than they took in, more than Reagan requested.
I was here when it happened. I lived through it. I remember it. Guess that makes me a Right Wing Kook.
