You know I totally had that watch look when I was in college back in the 90s, but my band was also velcro.

HINT: you can add a ribbon band to most any watch, just remove the existing band (as if you were replacing it) put the little arms back on the watch and thread the appropirate sized ribbon through! add a buckle, snap, or just tie it in a bow for a quick swap.
