Gravatar It's pretty, though, despite the trouble!

I haven't used that tubular cast-on very much, but the times that I have it ends up with a firm but elastic edge by itself, not live stitches. (It's similar to the top edge of bought socks or the hem of bought sweaters.) It makes an essentially "invisible" hem in ribbing, but I've not heard of needing elastic to hold it together.

Gravatar Yeah...I think I might have been doing something incorrectly. I dug out my Vogue reference book yesterday to check and there weren't live stitches left in that version. Still can't figure out what, though.
