um, this is my first time here... and i am getting all teared up. that story about your grandma is so sweet. good for you for singing for her... i'm sure she heard every note.
the "wife" thing -- i live with a gal who is also my best friend. we are joined at the hip, and basically have a marriage minus the sexual stuff. we take each other to dr's appts, etc. so, about a year ago, our friends began to get married off. they'd refer to their husbands while in converstation, and since we're not married -- my girlfriend and i joked about being each other's wives. it just kinda stuck.

Despite making me cry, that was a beautifully written post and I am so pleased I dropped by when I did.
I am certain your grandma is singing that song to all her friends and when she is not, she is humming it to herself whilst she takes care of her family around her and watches over you.

Thanks everybody, I appreciate the kind words.
It's amazing that sometimes when you sit down with nothing on your conscious mind, your sub-conscious will surprise the heck out of you. I guess maybe that's the way it should be.
Hope everybody has a great weekend.

i know what you mean about the sub-conscious mind... i have those days myself where you just let your mind wander and before you know it, sometimes just pops up and think to yourself.. where the hell did that come from? ..lol
i'll add you to my blogroll if that's ok.. and thanks for dropping by my blog

That was beautiful. (And even without the song, she knew. Grandmas are smart like that, they can read a lot in the sparkle in your eye and the curve of your smile, or even if you ask for seconds of her dessert. She knew.)
I lost my Grandpa two years ago to a pickup accident. He was as active and healthy as a fifty year old. A farmer/inventor/joke teller/smart ass/fixer/Life of the party.
I'll miss him every day for the rest of my life.
Carl's GrandDaughter,
Susie Sunshine
