Talk to me!

Gravatar Very nice brother. I could not have said it beter myself. 'Cause I suck at writting. I to have a Wife that is contradictory of my every lecture to my girls. But I think you're correct about the "rounding" out of all considerations.
Drink more Bourbon. Rowans Creek. Give me a shout if you can't find it in your neck of the woods.

Gravatar "I can only hope that we are the push and the pull that they need to consider all and accept little. "

This, quite simply, blew me away.

Gravatar "There is peace in finding oneself, and there is life in the journey."
AMEN Brother Whit, AMEN!!

Gravatar Very well said Whit. I, like you, didn't follow the 'get older and more conservative' model, but the just the opposite. The more I read and question, the more my previous views do not add up with who I am today and who I want my child to grow into.

Gravatar Off-topic: Tanis says she will trade me in for you if you look at her sideways.

Gravatar Did backpacking dad just proposition you for a wife-swap? Dude!

Gravatar cIII- I'll have to look for that. Sadly, I have a line of unopened bourbon bottles gifted me in the last two years that I can't get to fast enough. I need neighbors that drink whisky.

Patty- Wow, thanks!

Jeff's Place- Thank you, Brother Jeff.

James- Maybe we haven't grown older with the proper amount of funding.

Backpacking Dad- Sideways? Like horizontal? Hey, this is a family blog.

Gravatar RTK- I don't think the wives were involved, but that would make some great blog fodder.

Gravatar Dude awesome post. Let me bust out my cliff notes....hmmm it says simply: Vote Barr '08. Crap I think someone hacked my notes. But I like you, so I'll do it.

Gravatar I am fueled by coffee and you don't want to see me w/ bourbon. (I left behind my religion and virginity a long, long time ago... Might've had something to do with that bourbon.)

P.S. Isn't it Dove season right now?

Gravatar We have taken very similar journeys, you and I, except in different places.

Gravatar Better to come to it from your own path anyway...

"I have my own boys to place my views upon and a wife that contradicts most of them. " -- we're not married (not religious -- too feminist), but it's this could be have been written about my house.

Gravatar I think this may be the best piece I've read of yours. Dammit. Wish I had wrote it myself.

As for BPD...well, it's too late. I've already traded him in for a better model. You.

Wink.

Gravatar Henri- I appreciate that!

Undomestic Diva- You sound fun on bourbon!

Ed- We're like brothers from another mother!

I'm using a lot of exclamation marks!

Nat- A path forced is never a good thing!

Redneck Mommy- Obviously you need to read more of my posts. I have at least 2 other good pieces buried in the archives.

Gravatar Geeeez Whit...

So eloquent. I can say that in my manly man voice and get away with it.

Love your writing...

Gravatar Excellent Whit.

Tanis has OBVIOUSLY been too busy tanning her boobies rather than reading your blog.

Don't know what's more important - guess it depends who you ask.

Gravatar This is beautiful, and yet Bossy wishes for only push in this election and no pull, unless that pull is a lever pulled for Obama.

(P.S. You are all kinds of awesome.)

Gravatar right on.

Gravatar And so is the texture of life, filled with unexpected turns and flavors. Aren't you just so thankful to live in a country that lets you explore with such freedom? The journey is amazing, and it's always interesting to read others take on things. Thanks man!

Gravatar Slick- Thanks, man(ly)!

Sam- I'll go with the boobs.

Bossy- I bet you say that to all of your reader(s).

Kevin- What, no tongue?

Jeremy- I only hope my kids have the same opportunities- but without the premarital sex.

Gravatar Preach it, my brothah!

Gravatar and that ladies and gentleman is why i am snapping photos for my blog and whit is writing for, what a dozen blogs.

great read.

Gravatar Whit did it again. You're writing is art.

Regarding your journey, so many changes occur in life from the time we enter adulthood with a naive perspective until we finally find ourselves. It's unfortunate that so many don't get to go through it and continue on a path mapped by others and embracing the status quo.

Gravatar It's funny how we start out on one path, suspect we are going the wrong way, back track and realize that we were right in that we were wrong.

Gravatar AL- Can I call you AL?

PG- Kind words will get you everywhere.

VegasDad- Exactly. That's it in a nutshell.

Gravatar I lost mine in St. Patricks Cathedral when I was 16. I believe I was listening to the Door - Light my Fire. It was either my religion or maybe my virginity. I can't remember but I'm sure I lost them both. I just can't remember where. I do like some good whiskey. I make my own now.

Gravatar Keith- something to be said for the gut

Bubba- were you an altar boy?

Gravatar Nobody noticed but they just called a federal election in Canada, you know the 52nd state...

The main opposition plane wasn't ready, thus he had to start his campain on a bus! the whole campain lasts about 6 weeks!

I am wide open for shots here... and yes my spouse is a 'hockey mom'... That qualifies her for running mate right?

Gravatar David- only if she wears lipstick

Gravatar Great post.

Gravatar Wow - this was great. Love the cadence of it.
