As miserable as it sounds, that was danm sweet. I'm embarrased to complain about the two days in a row that broke 90 (three weeks ago). The memories of Seattle summers must seem nice after having to endure those conditions. Good luck staying comfortable.

In all my life, I have never heard of a swamp cooler. It sounds large, and loud.
Up here (GTA), we have the opposite problem. If I told you it hadn't rained 5 out of the last 25 days, I would be lying.

You live in the desert with only a swamp cooler? That sounds miserable. Of course, you wrote it so well, I actually can feel your pain.

"And my dreams are of the sea." What, when the state falls into the Pacific?
Living in New England I deal with the weather changing in a instant but at least is not as extreme as the shit you go through out there.

Sam- between that and the coffee I should be set
SciFi Dad- Send it this way!
VegasDad- It actually works as well as air at a fraction of the price- unless it gets humid, which it doesn't
Princessnana- nope, too hot
AA Joe- It's just one extreme: hot. Granted it freezes in the winter, but it's a dry cold.

i remember one summer when i lived in Los Feliz is was hotter than hell and i found myself resting my head in the fridge for 20 minutes at a pop to cool off.
as for fires, yeah i lived in the verdugo hills when there was a fire burning by the Rose Bowl and ash fell like snowflakes at my house. driving to work i had to think, "what if i can't go back to my house? what if they say i only have five minutes what would i take?"
ah, californication...
