OK, here it is: the corporal was removing bodies in Haditha, including that of a little girl. “I held her out like this, but her head was bobbing up and down and the insides fell on my legs.” He is now in AA, having drunkenly crashed a stolen pickup into a house and resisted arrest a day after returning from Iraq.

My Lai - I returned to Viet Nam in April 2000, the 25th Anniversary of the Reunification. I went to My Lai, in Quang Ngai province, to see how it is presented. The memorial built there, lists the names of 504 people, from age 1 to age 82
It was packed with school buses, and school children. "To quo'c Gh'i O'n" said the marker on the site = our country will never forget you. The lesson that those children were being taught was quite simple - never again.
It is a lesson that I thought we had learned as well. The mess in Iraq demonstrates that we have not.

trying to get attention, I believe.
I don't understand the world nowadays. people who want to live get shot in cold blood. those who deny themselves food to in order to die, get forcefed.

Nell: changed the embarrassing spelling error. What happens when you post just before going to bed.
Sen. Bob: Too bad there isn't a My Lai memorial in Washington D.C. where it might do some good.

It had to be Shiloh. After all, Antietam is a boy's name.

Good one. And the baby's room would be painted blue for a girl, gray for a boy.

Actually, I think Bradgelina have employed a little Civil War humor here. The Battle of Shiloh was called "Pittsburg Landing" by General Grant and Union historians.

The Telegraph doesn't give the happy couple much credit:
"The couple may not be aware that Shiloh was also the name of a major battle in the American Civil War.
"The Battle of Shiloh, also known as the Battle of Pittsburg Landing, was fought on April 6 and 7, 1862, in Tennessee. Nearly 24,000 died."
