Sandra, I wonder if you would care to comment further on your “older people work”? This seemed a rather flippant comment to what for many is a very serious concern. I campaign up in the west midlands on a variety of older people’s issues including pensions. I have observed that many politician`s eyes glaze over when this issue is raised. What is wrong with the concept of a decent living pension for everyone regardless of their private provision? Do politicians not trust pensioners to manage their own affairs? Why do poorer pensioners have to face what amounts to means testing for pensioner credits and why do not all party MP`s campaign against the poverty trap that this is creating and the grossly unfair way that council tax is applied to pensioners who own their homes? Over fifties are far more likely to vote and I think the pensioner lobby is going to demand a better deal than any of the main parties are proposing at the moment. Just at what stage did your eyes glaze over? and please |

Bob, Sandra has been party spokesman on Older People for a number of years and has consistently campaigned for better pensions, scrapping Council tax, free personal care, etc. Do your research before posting a rant next time. |

Well reader thank for that but it does not answer the question the main parties are not giving sufficient priority to this and no it was not a rant I have listened to the argument and am not convinced by any of them. Perhaps you should let Sandra answer for herself. |
