I am excited to stumble across your Blog. It's nice to find sites like yours - of people in leadership type positions.

i'm sorry to hear about your friend.

i forgot to leave my url

the passing of a friend, the absence of one whose laughter, courage, sheer physical presence made a difference...I am sorry for your loss. Thankfully, such a spirit leaves an impact...she certainly touched your life...may you continue to remember and respond to needs before in the awareness of what truly matters...hatless,maybe; hairless, often; heartless, never!

Dear Sandra,

Today I've sent a further cheque to the Gender Balance Task Force in Patsy's memory. My wife and I were supposed to be having lunch or dinner with her sometime this year as a result of my successful bid in the Gender Balance Task Force auction at Bournemouth last year. Alas, it was not to be.

I last saw Patsy at conference and she assured me she was on the mend. I decided we would wait until she had successfully defended Cheadle - as I was sure she would. And how she did! Majority of 33 increased to 4,020!! Shades of Winchester, 1997!

Please ask all friends who wish to mark Patsy's passing to write a cheque for the GBTF or Nancy Seear Trustin her name. Parliament needs more Members of the quality of Patsy Carlton. I shall be doing all I can to ensure they are there.

Cllr Richard Fagence
Cabinet Member for Leisure and Culture,
Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead.

As a politician, are you able to say everything you want to say on this blog? Is there a chance of you being "dooced"? I'm interested to know.

dooced?

To lose your job because of your website - not a word I'm familiar with either, I had to google it.

Maybe it was written by an American. As the humble servant has looked up its meaning, you can now answer the question.

I'm sorry for the loss of your friend. I'm certain she will be missed by many. I just found your site and love it. Keep it up!

Can only be dooced in 4-5 years time if the constituents don't like what I say - although I suppose if I started challenging party policy on a regular basis I could find myself flung out of our Shadow Cabinet..

Have answered to this for benefit of Romsey voters everywhere not the self-styled "Romsey voter" who loves to comment on these pages

If I didn't ask the question, you wouldn't have answered. Thank you for your answer.

San, sorry for your friend but remember when we forget our dear ones when they are alive there is no reason to feel (that deeply) about them. They pass us like the wind passes us and can't be noticed. Your blog has reached the tail list on my blog and soon we will be walking the different directions. I will, however, try to reach you when I come to London to see my son there. Yours, Ben Zab

The extent to which you are all so involved in your local politics is marvelous and something I would Americans would closer emulate. Particularly with the internet as the ultimate enabler. Keep up the good work.

Old news, I know, but I left what I hope are encouraging words for you as comment after your November 3,2004 blog and the "flaming."

My condolences on the death of your colleague.

I am sorry for your loss... One of mine just recently passed, and those dear to us are hard to let go of.

Don't mind me.

Regards,

Did you ever consider a fluffy kitten?
Are you virtual? Why is there pain?

Hello!

I enjoy having a polital leader be into blogging. How may I help?

Thank you for giving me (and others) interesting material to read. Reading blogs is a great joy and allows us to experience so much more than the traditional media/literature.

I am sorry about your friend.

Yours is the first blog I have ever opened (after 8 years with internet access) and I found it after typing "Patsy Calton cancer" into Google.
My concern is that there has been no discussion about why Patsy chose to fight the 2005 General Election when she was seriously ill (and maybe knew she was dying) of cancer. We can understand why she wanted to fight on, but would it have been nobler of her to stand down before the election?

Patsy has always been a fighter, her body may have been weak but I can assure you her mind was as active as ever. I was with her on the run up to the election and she was very, very much in control.
As it turned out there were "4020" good reasons why Patsy chose to fight the election. She was re-elected on her achievements on the previous years and very much hoped to serve the community again for a further four years.
Yes I believe she did offer to stand down but was incouraged unanimously by the party to continue.
Patsy could have given up 8 years ago, when she was first diagnosed with cancer, but went on help her comunity in many ways.
Maybe Mr Berridge will be "noble" and resign from his job at the first signs of illness, but there people who are determined not tho give in.
...Patsy's Brother and very proud of it.

Have only just seen Michael Berridges comments and can only endorse the comments of Patsy's brother.
I can only echo the comment that Patsy was a fighter and knew that she was desperately keen to fight (and win) the election.

Patsy was an incredibly determined individual as well as being straightforward and down to earth. Cheadle were lucky to have her as their MP and I am lucky to have known her.
