Please, enlighten us into this negativity. I can think of a few negative things to say about your horrible lot.

The campaign was very positive. It said that the Conservative candidate believed in OPEN local government, all year round, not just at election time.
The election result was hardly a ringing endorsement of the Lib Dems who now have three narrow margins to defend, 125,19 and 14.

This is interesting - in what way is making spurious accusations about the Lib Dems positive? None of the literature had anything positive to say about the Tory candidate or Tory policies

In the tory leadership contest who do you think is best placed to lead the conservatives into political oblivion at the next election? I favour John Redwood for the post despite the rumours he is from another planet. He could clear this matter up by a simple DNA test. I feel this is in the national interest that this issue is cleared up once and for all.

I would suggest that we let the Standards Board decide whether the accusations are spurious.

Aha.

125, 19 and 14. Of course Tories might choose to see them as 'hardly a ringing endorsement of the Lib Dems'. However bottom line is it's binary isn't it. You win or you lose. We won. You lost. Get over it.

'jessie' should consult her dictionary as to the meaning of binary. However whatever shape her 'bottom line' is,these elections were won with very slim margins.I am sure that the Conservatives 'got over it'the very next day and with further revelations to come regarding the Town Council, the future is bright, but not orange.
As for Mr Sowerby,I would suggest that he tries trading his out-dated cliches on e-bay.

'composed of or characterised by two, dual'

in this case it's either... or
win or lose

And I love the way 'Romsey Constituent' puts names in inverted commas. My name is Jessie, short for Jessica. On my birth certificate it says Jessica and not 'Jessica'. Does yours say 'Romsey Constituent'?

Talking about negative campaigning, I got the latest LibDem leaflet yesterday, asking everyone if they would like to put up a poster at election time. Didn't see one saying if they would like to tear one down though.

I recieved one leaflet from Conservatives that said their candidate would understand the financial side of the council and that praised the LibDem councillor who died. I make that 2 positives at least. Why Sandra are you saying that the Tories had no positive messages? Did you not read the literature?

My comment was about the conservative candidate and the fact that we received no information about his background, expertise or what he wanted to do for the area. The Tory candidate may have claimed that he would "understand" the financial side of the council but presented no evidence to back this up.
