Spot on.

As with the general trend towards centralising hospital services a large part of this agenda is around shifting the cost from the system to patients.

There is also a big isue around whether there is any guarantee that Social Services will see the sustained increases in funding which will be required if care is to be provided at home to more people and maintaining quality.

I think that the idea of people getting home care is great. Here when the people choose to be at home to get care they have a nurse come in and take care of what needs to be done on a medical level and then she calls a report in befor she/he leaves the residence to thier D.O.N. {director or nursing} one great thing that I have found out that social services will pay a family member to stay at home and help take care of their loved one until they are well this means that they do the "wound care" and the person gets to stay at home where they are less likely to be depressed or more depressed because they are at home and they have their family member there with them taking care of them and they are more at ease than they are if a staranger comes into their home to take care of them.....This is a great Idea.
