I've got a good number of nevi and have had a few funny looking ones taken off, and am starting an annual checkup regimen with my dermatologist.

I know of lots of research looking into a handful of genes that, when mutated, can cause melanoma. Also much research into the factors causing metastasis. The research could lead to improved diagnosis and - pray God - even treatment someday.
