IIRC, a drug dealer in America can deduct the cost of goods sold on Schedule C (self-employment). Similarly, there are regs and laws relating to tax treatment of bribes (non-deductible to the briber, but income to the bribed). It's gotta be the legacy of the Capone strategy: if you're gonna nail people on tax evasion, you have to have regs on how to properly report illegal income.
