Well, not that it matters to you, but Robt Gates was also investigated during the Iran-Contra "affair." If you or your readers were alive back then, then you remember that it was implemented by the Greatest President Who Ever Lived, Ronaldo Reagan. What he did was, he sold guns to our sworned and bloodred enemy, Iran (you know them, right? Axis of Evil/Terrorist Dude Ranch?), and used the money to fund the Nicaraguan Contras, all this behind good citizens's backs while we were all making money hand over fist and snorting coke with George W Bush. You may remember the silly Moonbats (they weren't called Moonbats back then, of course) and their silly, pithy slogans, such as "US Out Of Nicaragua!" and other silly slogans like that.
Be that as it may, "independent counsel" (probably pals of Oliver North or some other fraud) couldn't find enough actionable evidence to prosecute our new Sec O Defence. Alas... support our troops, indeed.
