The courts appear to be allowing political arguments to enter into defining what is in the child's best interests, which is the lodestar upon which such cases are supposed to be decided. Whatever Cuba is, and it is obviously not an ideal place to grow up in, it is neither Haiti nor Zimbabwe. Cuban family law should be respected, and the child returned to her father.
