Congrats on your first lamb of the season. She is so tiny and cute! Will her hair stay black?
I don't know what to suggest for names. Jake came to us already named, making it very easy.

How cool! Okay, names: I hate to suggest this, but what about political candidates? Hillary, Barack, Mc Cain...and the move on to the commentators...you know, like George Stephanopolis, Cokie Roberts?
Ick. Forget I suggested that!

Hey, it's an election year! Why not name them all after political figures - Obama, Hilary, Huck(abee), Mitt, and McCain are the big ones of course, but there are lots of others to use. Since the first lamb is a black ewe, how about Obamama? Hee!

Wow, how did two of us manage to come up with that at the same moment? Tracy's comment wasn't there when I started my comment....

I love baby lambs--what a little cutie! Do many of the ewes have multiple babies? We visited a local farm years ago where one of his ewes had 5 baby lambs (and they all lived!)
How about flower names? Rose, Alyssum, Dandelion

Wow Michelle, that must be some kind of an omen! Ruthie, the number of lambs depends on a few things, and breed is one of them. My ram is a Finn and they are known for multiple births as in 4 or 5 lambs. In the past I've had triplets and twins. Alyssium is a pretty name and Dandelion is so cute!

Congratulations on the first new baby of the season! I like Ruthie's flower name suggestions much better than the political candidates's names. Who wants to be reminded of that fiasco on a daily basis? Besides, this is a little girl and they're almost all men!
I vote for Dandelion, or Alice (shortening of Alyssum). And there's always Petunia, Violet, Daisy, Rose, Lily, etc.
We use milk replacer to feed our barn cats (along with the dry food) and it mixes easily with warm water. It's the I.L. Richer brand.
I hope you have good luck with that second mommy! 3am feedings would be torture in this weather (or any weather)!

Kerri, you make a good point.
Maan, we've already had a Lambert. Great name isn't it?

I will officially rescind (SP?) my suggestion of candidate names. I like the idea of flower children...you could give the boys herbal names like Chive, Basil and Parsley!

Oh, I enjoyed this post and the video of the sheep and baby. I like the idea of flower names too.

I have to say that raising baby lambs was one of my favorite jobs, even the crazy hours for feedings! I miss them. Guess we may have to get some more sheep. Sigh, the two old girls we have will never have more of their own, even if we had a nice ram.
Congrats on the baby!

My vote is for Curly. Isn't that cute name?
Are baby lambs called kids like goats?

Go Albert!
He did a good job for a young feller...
It's nice to see him being so mannerly around the baby, too.
I only know of one flower that comes in black - black tulip. Or you could shorten it up and call her BLIP.
