Gravatar Thank you, thank you, thank you for bringing this topic up! Good nutrition and sensible choices make such a huge difference. I just can't thank you enough for including the link to the article about statin drugs-much needed advice.

Gravatar Yes,cholesterol has been given a bum rap. It is a necessary building block to hormone synthesis. You really don't want extremely low levels. LDL only causes problems with inflammation as you mentioned.

Using statins causes depletion of an important energy producing enzyme called Co-enzyme Q10. It is not readily disclosed, extensive reading has uncovered this information for me. Reading the side-effect lists does certainly leave something to be desired in most pharmaceutical therapies.

Gravatar Thank you soooo much for linking to the Business Week article. I had been on statins for 20 years at double the normal dose and my cholesterol was still not as low as the doctors thought it should be. I went off the drug last July and feel much better. On the down side, my cholesterol is in the 700+ range! I'm having a calcium score scan done next week. It should tell me what my real risk is.

Gravatar This is a great read that's been long overdue. 700+ for cholesterol?!! That's incredible!
