This is an annoying problem, DVD's are far worse however. I typically just run my thumbnail along the crease where the case would open and it works like a charm.

JP, I've tried that and it doesn't work for me.

Oh that's to true. I nearly stabbed myself trying to run a knife along that seam this Christmas when my kids bought me some new CDs. Nothing like a little Christmas puncture to liven things up.

I dont think there is any particlar technique to open the cd case .I guess you should take one which is easily accessable, that can be the only solution.

I always run my thumbnail where the crease is too and it usually punctures it and I am able to open it. For the top sticker I will start on one corner and bring it up and around and it usually stays in one piece.
I do have another piece of advice for CDs and DVDs. Just don't buy em anymore. We live in the digital age and there is no need for CDs. My motto is 'CD free since 2006' I would have liked CD free since 2003', but I screwed up in 06.

I love the ending when the cat licks her rear end. The icing on the cake, so to speak!

I did a little research. This is the product that Reader's Digest recommends:
http://www.thecdstripper.com/
I've also read reviews of other products like it, but people who leave comments frequently recommended the CD Stripper instead because it's the sturdiest of its kind.
Good luck! So frustrating, I know!

I love that little video--how did you manage to film that long without laughing out loud?
I loved hearing your dog's tail thumping on the floor -- that's something we never get to hear with German Shorthairs

To get the plastic off the cd, hold one side and rub the other on a sharp edged object (eg the lip of a desk, car key etc.) The plastic will wear away all down that one side you rub and you can then rip the plastic off easily.

Jeff,
They are lethal aren't they? Honestly they just go too far with packaging nowadays. It's not like a terrorist can poison it.
Meachel,
I think they are all packaged the same.
Watson,
I'm not set up yet to discard cds/dvds just yet. Heck I don't even own an Ipod.
Sally,
Doncha just love a cat's personality?
Kathy,
That device looks like the perfect thing. But $20.00 gee.z I dunno...
Ruthie,
They do that a lot. I just don't get it on video but it's still hard not to laugh and I'm glad you noticed the tail wagging and even heard it!
Hannah,
That's pretty much what my mom said.

My technique is to curse loud enough that my husband offers to open it for me. Works every time. =)

Glad to see im not the only one who finds this incredibly difficult. Especially as soon as i buy it, i need scissors and it takes me a while to open it.
