Jo made a statement a while back about her & Kim feuding. Something about Kim lying about Slade hooking up with random women in Coto & Kim being jealous of her, etc, etc. But that's my theory of her not being on this season, they want to portray the women of the OC in a "positive" light & not the jealous, dramatic, snooty women that they truly are.
