a word of advice to parents: PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE find decent role models for your children. anyone that makes a living off their body/hair/weight loss is NOT someone that is making the world a better place.

Why does everyone assume that because they are pretty and win a pagent that they have to be role models. We don't hold anyone else, Including the president (Clinton), to any kind of morale ground so why should a young girl who won an award based on her looks have to hold up the standards??

Ann, 12:57. Sorry, but I think you are an idiot. Beauty pageants are archaic. The only reason they still exist today is because those throwing them insist that they are based on "personality, intelligence, beauty, and talent." They have become scholarship competitions.
So now, when someone wins, it's because "they are excellent role models." That's the only point anymore- other than a prize for being genetically blessed. When these girls act like any other whore, the competition is just a complete joke.

Last time I checked there was no overweight girl with bad hair and glasses winning the Miss USA title even though she probably might be an excellent role model. I just read an article that she was fired. . . these girls are so dumb. It's one thing to be crazy and stupid if you are a normal young adult but when you are in these pagaents isn't it common sense to put your "moral" hat on?

I was prom queen my senior year. There is a certain standard that one must live up to. Unfortunately with Britney Spears, Paris Hilton, Lindsey Lohan, & Jessica Simpson influencing our younger generation, it's a hopeless situation. This is what pagent winners have turned to.

Oh Martha! While Jessica isn't exactly perfect (sorry Llama :-(), you really can't compare her to the likes of Britney, Paris and Lindsay! I have never heard anything about her getting coked up in the bathroom, or having lesbo romps with her friends, or going pantiless.
