What the Beautiful People Say

Gravatar Oh. Petra!

I'll be praying for all of you that you will be immunity rock stars!!

Gravatar We had it last month. It was no worse than any other flu and easier than some I've had. My wife and son had it worse than me, but still got through it with no complications.

Good luck!

Gravatar Good luck!!! I hope I don't get it either.

Gravatar My son (7) had that for two weeks. It spread like wild fire in the school. First week is the worst. You never know which day they will run a 102 or higher fever and be barfing. The second week they are exhausted and if you haven't gotten it by now your good to go.
I think the severity of the flu depends on how often they've had the flu before (built up immunity) and if they have something when they are exposed (cold, ear infection, sniffles etc.) as they are more likely to get it.
Keep your witts & humor and you shall get through it just fine.

Gravatar I hate it when you get that call from someone you just spent way too much time with that says, "we have xxx(insert whatever dread monstrosity here you want, strep, flu, lice) you might want to watch for symptoms".

Thanks for sharing your germs.

Gravatar We got the Piggy Flu and survived. To be honest, I was WAY more sick than my 2 year old. The aftereffects were worse than the flu for him....it kicked up his asthma. I have a sinus infection, but I'll take that because the flu kicked my ass. Stay well. But if you get it, take Shaklee's Defend and Resist. It's clinically proven against H1N1. I don't sell the stuff. I just believe in it. I swear the reason L didn't get sicker was because of it!!

Gravatar have you considered calling your doc/pediatrician to see if you can get a script for Tamiflu? Since you've definately had contact w/and infected person, you should be able to.
Hope you all stay well!

Gravatar I hope this all works out for you. I hate to even ask this but did the cousin's doctor check for swine flu. Here is CT they do not check for swine flu they just check to see if the child/person has the flu one type which may or may not be swine. One plus to this is that if they do not have official swine flu most people do carry some immunity to the regular flus! Hope you all stay flu free

Gravatar Ugh. I hope you get lucky and don't actually get it at your house.

Gravatar Yeah, I hear ya. Although we have not had (knock on wood) anyone close to us come down with it, a 12 year old girl from our town died last week. From all accounts so far, she was a healthy kid. Heartbreaking and scary.

Gravatar Drop everything and IMMEDIATELY take your adorable tush to the closest Wal-Mart or CVS or Walgreens or Rite Aid...whatever tickles your fancy. March and I mean MARCH to the vitamin aisle and pick up an industrial size bottle of "Echinacea/Goldenseal Complex". EVERY member of your family needs to take 2 pills in the morning and 2 pills in the evening until you are convinced the danger has passed. The Echinacea is an immune system booster and the Goldenseal attacks any impurities in the system. Excellent anytime you feel a cold coming on or know you have been exposed to germies.

*The only side-effect I've experienced with this is funny tasting burps. My husband has HORRIBLE allergies (dust, cats, pollen, hay, air) and when he takes this it does cause a little allergy annoyance but he says that is better than a full-blown sickness.

Gravatar really hope you all are safe and that little girl is better too!

Gravatar hope it stays away from your house, but really, unless there is an underlying chronic condition, it should just be like any other rotten flu....hundreds of thousands of people get the flu every year and the ones that DIE are the old sick people and others with challenged immune systems...stay calm, don't panic, stay hydrated, get exercise and eat lots of fruits and veggies and protein to give your body the strength to fight back
