now THAT is a rant...it's quite refreshing to read...the thing about being politically correct is that it is sold as being focused on the individual...for example, PC means not using a word "salesman" when the individual is a woman, "saleswoman" in that case is ok because it focuses on the individual but PC introduces the word "salesperson" which focuses away from the individual gender and becomes all encompassing, hence, gender specificity is lost, the individual characteristic is lost..."stewardess" becomes "flight attendant", "bum" becomes "homeless" "handicapped" becomes "physically challenged" and so on...the terms become so encompassing that they no longer describe anyone in particular but begin to encircle practically everyone...therein lies the danger of "them" and "they".
