i've been to Chanhassen Dinner Theatre here in Minnesota.... they perform a play / musical.... food is served beforehand [by an hour, i think] in wonderful seating, from which you watch the production... at intermission, one can order dessert, so no waiters rushing around during the actual performance... it's a good time.
