I've never been brave enough to try it. I did try some accupressure massage, and it was very relaxing. Hope the injuries heal up, I am sending good thoughts.

LC: I have tendonitis in my right wrist and and forearm (my sword arm) and I've strained my left achilles tendon in kendo (a new thing; I'll explain later). The acupuncture has been a great help and has also caused me to relax a great deal -an unexpected side effect. I can really recommend it although it's the opposite to western medicine in that it's not very quantitative (or least it seems to me). You should investigate it for your knee. It's pretty much painless -the needles are very fine and don't go in very far. I usually go asleep in my sessions.

So what you're telling us is that you are happy to have needles stuck in you by pleasant looking chinese doctors? Oh yeah, all in the name of science, eh?
Be interesting to see if it helps though. The efficiency of 'alternative therapies' is something I am very open to. Mind you, I believe in ghosts and faeries too.

Ohara: Well it's all in the name of medicine. All western therapy can offer is rest/immoblization and ibuprofen. I thought I'd give acupuncture a go (and more importantly it's covered on my insurance). So far my impression is very positive and I've found it much more effective than conventional therapy.
P.S. I don't think there is anything going on that requires a belief system. There is a physiological explanation for everything that's been done to me -the problem is that the mechanism(s) hasn't yet been elucidated in scientific terms.

I used to do kung fu seriously and know that acupuncture really does work. Stick with it.
