Say, whore, UniScorn is so much better.

My comment made the side board!

"yawn... i think i'll go read gsimms blog instead."

Victory is mine comrades! (yes, I realize that was made weeks ago.)

Wait a second, fans of the diaspora? Since when has the Jewish population deserved their own mention by RichRod?

He recognizes the significant Hebrew presence in Ann Arbor.

Gravatar Despair is typical of those who do not understand the the nature of football, see nothing but the negative, and are incapable of struggle. These weak minded sheep who cry foul at our class of athletes are the ones who will bring us down!

(raises hand, hangs head in shame)

I just want some DEs. Please, RichRod, bring some trench laborers of the pass-rushing variety to the Barwis State Factory in Ann Arbor, and my faith in the Revolution will be restored.

I need help.

Gravatar I'm glad I found this. And that others share my "haloscan's innocuous appearance kept me employed" sentiment.

I got a lot of problems with you people! And now you're gonna hear about it! You, Dex. My son tells me your blog stinks!

Gravatar ahaha, that's hands down my favorite seinfeld episode.

Gravatar mgoblog linked here...it's a festivus miracle!

Gravatar Brian has a thing for you dex. It seems as though EDSBS does too. Did you see the recent plug?

Gravatar i did edsbs yesterday, but i was under the impression that brian hated me

Gravatar i hate you, if that counts for anything.

Gravatar By the way, does anything think gsims is lost on the old site? I can imagine him talking about his car and magic football dust to no avail. Poor guy.

Gravatar i hate you too

Gravatar gsimms will figure it out eventually, i hope. maybe someone should go down to NC and give him a crash course real quick.

Gravatar So, is it me, or can no one else figure out exactly how to use MgoBlog anymore?

Gravatar When I think I have it down I fuck something up.

After my initial reaction of shock, disgust, and petty anger I've started to come around though. The diary is a neat feature, the board will be pretty good in the long run, and it does appear to have cut down on the amount of shit to go through. I still can't help but wish Brian would have added the new features but kept HaloScan for it's anything goes atmosphere, but oh well.

Gravatar I wish the board was more segmented. Brian should just implement sections. Right now, its just open discussion. Basically, diaries under a new name, not tracked to a user's "space". I'd rather see Football, Basketball, Baseball, Tigers, Off Topic, General, Help, Barwis Love, Geek Stuff, etc. spaces. I'd create a room named Haloscan and always post there.

Gravatar Write that and tell him. I think it's a terrific suggestion.

Gravatar @Maize4Blue

Proper tagging should accomplish what you're talking about, at least for diaries...though I say that without having actually done much experimentation on the new MGoBlog site. It's just been my experience on another well known blog that runs on Drupal that people can "label" their diaries with tags, and that enables everyone to do some good searching and only read the diaries on topics that interest them.

Gravatar The problems are the tags and search are so uninformative. I think it just needs to be clearly stated what the sections are. I'm liking the diaries more and more, but rarely check out the mgoboard. If i wanted to go see what Jay is bitching about regarding the Tigers, with the proper section, this could be done easily.

Gravatar One thing that I've enjoyed is being able to blissfully ignore some of the more retarded stuff. The posts like "omg rich start feagin hes the awesome" don't matter anymore since it's more work to respond to them now.

I feel like while the community is going to grow by leaps and bounds with the new forms of participation, it's also going to be more fragmented into little groups.

Gravatar My issue is that there were a number of poster whom I enjoyed (eerily, most of you are here, too): dex, BGH, Huss, MRG, Musketrebellion, Maize4Blue, Other Chris, Ninja Football, etc...

Now, I worry that I'm missing all of their hilarity.

Gravatar my concern is that i can make all the sophomoric jokes i want, but no one is going to read them.

which begs the question, if someone makes a dick joke and there is no one to hear the dick joke, was the dick joke real?

Gravatar Someone will read it, somewhere, somehow.

Making my usual posts in a crowd of people who don't get it is kind of amusing. I thought the end of HaloScan might mean a lack of material to work with, but there is actually a lot more.

Gravatar it's funny that this commie pinko rag has employed haloscan, the ultimate democracy.

Gravatar Communism is freedom

Gravatar Is it weird that I feel bad for cursing on the new mgoblog site? The combination of registration and general openness has caused me to question my Internet cursing. Dex, I see you have no problem with it. Teach me your ways!

Gravatar At first I was hesitant because I feel like more people, and thus more sensitive people, would be reading. But then you just have to say damn a few times to break the ice and you are all set.

Gravatar There's definitely more fuel for mockery now - idiots have popped out of the wod work ad finitum since the change-over. Like the cock-knocker who claimed that Michigan would never have a good defense again. Or the guy that said that hands are an "intangible" skill, then bitched about Daniel criticizing "grammar".

Gravatar And "Feagin should start at QB out of the gate because he is the best fit for Rich Rod's offense" guy.

I can't believe people really think like that.

Gravatar the problem with idiots is that they're almost everywhere. it's like having a rat problem in your house. first, they're just in the basement. but, before you know it, they're stealing your cereal grains from the pantry and just generally running your life.

Gravatar I just have a hard time following any conversations on the new site. Its nice to see that there is a lot of new content and more interaction; however there is less consistancy and dick jokes. Common bgh! I also miss the days of ranting. It seems like 80% of the people who post on the site now are the delusional Michigan fans. I want more substance, not more tip kissing.

Gravatar Another positive - a decent diary entry will get 7x as many hits as my own blog in one day.

Gravatar I blame it partly on MZone going extinct. Talk about super serious bloggers.

And what's with the people who love Brian like he's David Koresh? I count myself as a huge fan of his product, but some of those quotes over there are one step away from offering him a handjob.

Gravatar I don't know Brian in any way shape or form, so this is purely speculation, but I have to believe that while he was probably kind of annoyed with our off topic discussions, he can't be fond of many of the absolutely brain dead delusional freaks that are posting now either.

Gravatar for the amount of really, really smart people that are michigan fans, the total lack of critical thinking is mind blowing.

Gravatar I think the diaries are great! They're perfect for the fans of Big Blue...

I have to assume Brian knows what he's doing and will implement more features are time wears on. I don't feel the need to email him and let him know that he's doing a good job. I think donating and visiting his site (ad$) are enough.

I do wonder how many emails Brian gets daily regarding his site or something Michigan-related. Whether its news, gossip, rants, worries, or something more troubling. I think people should just post all thoughts on the board/diaries and let Brian do his work.

BHG, super serious bloggers? I think those people just thought they had a great forum to discuss and rediscuss everything Michigan. While the MZone was great, it was archaic. Don't get me wrong, the guy did a great job. He knew that a lot of people came to his site regularly. To use a bad pun, he didn't do anything to his site to get it out of the Carr era. Brian did his RR-hire by revamping the site.

Gravatar How in the hell has Jay not made an appearance today, somewhere, after that showing by Robertson last night?

Gravatar I don't know Brian in any way shape or form, so this is purely speculation, but I have to believe that while he was probably kind of annoyed with our off topic discussions, he can't be fond of many of the absolutely brain dead delusional freaks that are posting now either.

Cosigned.

Gravatar I liked MZone enough and I think he did a nice job. They did seem to be a little less apt to accept edgy humor, though. And by edgy humor, I just mean the art of saying things that make my mother regret giving birth to me.

As for Jay, the morning is not over yet. At the very least, we know there is a lonely, 30-something year old man who is really really really really hating Nate Robertson right now.

Gravatar I hope he didn't kill himself

Gravatar Jay > 80% of MZone'rs

Gravatar For as many times as I've said I'd rather shove shards of glass into my dickhole than watch a Tigers with Jay, I'm starting to envision him as a well adjusted individual when the Tigers are winning who is thrown into an uncontrollable rage every time something bad happens - which actually might be kind of fun to watch.

Gravatar fuck you haloscan why do you make it so hard to love you

Gravatar Yeah, what happened there brah? Was Haloscan out getting a DWI with Grady?

Gravatar ahahah

I can just see it: Kevin Grady, hand in hand with Haloscan, spending an early October school day lecturing school kids on the importance of not drinking.

Gravatar I see it more as Kevin sitting in a chair behind haloscan with his head down, as Haloscan goes on about the negatives of drinking. Only to be nervously sipping his water and burping.

Haloscan: So drinking is bad. Right Kevin? *burp*

KG: Right.

Haloscan: See kids.

Gravatar My DARE office got busted for drunk driving and soliciting a prostitute.

Obviously, one of the most awesome dudes ever.

Gravatar who the fuck is this "ts" character on mgoblog and why does he suck

Gravatar I can't decide if he's yanking your chain in a totally awesome way or just a complete tool.

I sought the solace of Haloscan at work today and it let me down.

Gravatar You know what, I disagree with like 80% of what Jay says. But the kid can be reasoned with, he doesn't take personal offense to anything, and when he's fired up, he brings the haterade like nobody's business. Jay gets like a B from me.

Gravatar Yeah, I can't tell if ts is a moron, or if he's totally fucking with you. I think he's serious about the need to love Bo, which is stupid, but he's willing to make jokes about the conflict, which shows some awareness.

Gravatar Oh, and btw, Dex, you been paying Brian or something? He's all about the Dex/WLA love this week.

Gravatar I never thought I'd be so happy to see Haloscan in my life. Also, cosign on the previous cosign.

Gravatar If you really feel the urge, the old mgoblog.blogspot site is still up and still has working haloscan on its last post. And yeah, I am one of the (apparently legion) asshats who only read the haloscan comments on the old site and now feels encouraged and empowered by the new, albeit shittier, site to make public comments and embarrass myself.

Gravatar @Daniel L

Ignore my comment to you in the Duh-Fense thread, since this is the forum I was talking about

@Other Chris

I pay him in e-sex favors.

@Tokyo Blue

Don't take anything I say too hard here. I'm actually really enjoying the new setup there and their are a lot of good posters that have started contributing now. But it's much more fun to focus on the completely insane ones who have come out of the woodwork .

Gravatar I was going to make a sex joke myself, but I decided to leave that to the professionals. After all, as Mike Gundy would say, I'm a mom, I'm 40.

Gravatar Dex-I was feeling pretty awful about everything you've been saying, but then I spent this afternoon at work reading short stories on BGH's blog. Shitting the bed and bedroom and bathroom. Burning down one's own house while trying to kill wasps. All of a sudden life didn't seem so bad.

Seriously though, even from just being a lurker on the old site I fell into the mindset that only about 10 people read MGoBlog. Then suddenly there seemed to be thousands. And like you said, the format is damn hard to hide in the office. Weirdness.

Gravatar It's weird. I'd look at the sitemeter stats and see that thousands and thousands of people were visiting a month, and the fact there were only 400 comments on a post surprised me, considering the ease of posting to HaloScan.

I'm learning to get around the work thing. Just gotta be quick.

Gravatar I'll post it here as well -

chitown, if you don't mind, i need your email address, send it to

wolverineliberation at gmail dot com

Gravatar BGH i want yours as well, if possible

Gravatar Ah the 3rd of July. Time for OSU fans to clean out those old football coolers and prepare for the big day tomorrow...

Gravatar hopptm@gmail.com

Gravatar Tomorrow is a big drunk driving day for OSU fans.

Gravatar Also, Tokoyo Blue, thanks for reading my blog.

Fixed.

Gravatar BGH-What can I say, I did my share of creative writing courses and was a literature major in undergrad (before selling it all out to go for the law degree). I enjoy reading people's writing, especially when it isn't the usual treacly garbage, has a narrator whose tone shifts crazily, and utilizes a big vocabulary and stretches its meaning.

Also, did you know that "Tokoyo" means "land of eternal life?" Now you do.

Gravatar I guess what I meant to say is that I am totally homosexual for your blog posts.

Gravatar I like the new jerseys. Not that they are much different from the old ones, but we all knew they wouldn't change much. I'll probably get a jersey for the first time (yay being employed after college and being able to spend $$$ on an overpriced polyester shell!)

Gravatar BGH - what sort of Grad school are you going to in SD - writing related?

Gravatar I actually loved the away jerseys last year so I hope the new ones look kind of similar.

Gravatar Since I didn't buy one - forgot to finish my thought.

Gravatar Look at my photoshop job of what I thought the jerseys would look like.

http://michiganpwnstheworld.word...otball-fashion/

Though everyone expected the home not to change, all the bitching and whining and second-guessing was ridiculous. I do hope they do the away jerseys like this...

Gravatar Tokoyo - Well, thanks. I've never taken a creative writing course and never will, I just read a lot of books and enjoy writing. The purpose of the blog, in part, was to force myself to write on a regular basis. I'm something of a perfectionist and, in the past, I've written prolifically only to then delete said work - in its totality - because it wasn't what I wanted to be. This has led to immediate regret on my part more than once. Also, I did not knopw what Tokoyo meant, although I love Asians. I worked with a girl from japan and we used to set up boxes like Skyscrapers and knock the over as we re-created the Godzilla vs Mothra battle.

Chitown - I'm going to school for Media/Journalism/Communication Studies. My particular research interest is digital media and technology and how it can be applied towards improving public health in disaster-type situations. SDSU gave me a research grant to study this stuff, so that's why I'm headed out there. My creative writing is merely a release from day-to-day stress.

Dex and Maize4Blue - I agree, the new jersey look good. People were whining about nothing. What is it, with sports fans, that makes them jump to every possible negative conclusion? I don't get it. And, I can't fathom a world were the piping on the away jerseys has any bearing on, literally, anything. I mean, when the Pistons wen't to those god-awful uniforms with the half stallion/half dual exhuast system design, I didn't like them any less.

Gravatar / half chess piece. Those were hideous.

Keep up the writing, bgh. I'm enjoying it.

Gravatar RE: Media/Journalism/Communication Studies. My particular research interest is digital media and technology and how it can be applied towards improving public health in disaster-type situations.

Are you going to look at Twitter and Pownce and use those for references?

Gravatar Maize4Blue: Well, perhaps not those specifice sites, but similiar- type tools. Being that I'll be working with a variety of representatives from the traditional media oligarchs, my operative assumption is that I'll be researching ways to implement new media tools into the broader spectrum of mass news media. Even though newspapers, in their paper forms, are dying out, people still trust certain names for content. But, as we all know, the news media is stuggling to keep up with the pace of new media which creates a situation where we have existing sources of distibution and existing readership populations but content that is limited by technology.

A lot of this is still up in the air. I know I'll be given a lot of freedom, but I also know that I'll still have benchmarks that the University will require me to meet.

Gravatar Sounds good. I'm hoping you'll write about your experiences (as you can). I would enjoy reading about it. Certainly I think its a hot topic and could yield strong results. Good luck.

Gravatar Yeah, it's an exciting change of pace. I'll definitely keep writing and, again, thanks for reading.

Gravatar I feel like I just showed up to party late ,with no pants on. But here I am, in all my uncircumcised glory.

Gravatar One nice thing about new MGoBlog: Edit functionality. Got to get my Haloscan typing chops back up to speed.

Gravatar Hail, hail, the gang's all here. Is the WLA now the hang out spot for overly sarcastic MgoBlog posters?

Gravatar It's like a secret hangout that is not hidden at all
