Gravatar I share most of your opinions on Band of Brothers. I would ask you to contemplate how the actual war must have ended for these guys. There was only a very brief "yeah we won!" moment, then a long period of doing nothing while the Army figured out how to get everyone back home while still having enough men to do whatever the Army thought needed doing.

Plus, you have the very real "what the hell am I going to do now?" realization dawning on many of these men. They had been through so much in one year, now it was back home to...? Coming out of the Depression, what, exactly, they would be returning to was a very real question. It always seemed odd to me that Dick Winters would accept a job at a factory in NJ from Captain Nixon, especially since he as the superior officer and "better" man. But he probably spent the next 30 years of his life grinding away in some front office job while his friend inherited control of the company. I've always seen in that quiet scene that by the lake that Winters knew that this was his fate and there was nothing to do but quietly accept it.

Anywho...when are you moving back here again? Or finding me a decent job with AFT?

Gravatar I completely agree with your points about the end of the war - I just think the way the final episode dealt with these issues was incomplete (for lack of a better word) as they tried to wrap up the story. The "what comes next" story could have been much more powerful than it was, at least to me.

As for your last couple of questions, I'll have to get back to you on that.
