I once made a oncho because I really wanted one. But I never wore it, and ripped it out a year later. I guess those friends of yours know what their talking about.

Wow - I love that hat. And if I had been your friend, I would have said go for that poncho. My mom made me one last year (knitted) and it is beautiful and practical in this Wisconsin weather.
