Wonko`s World

Or for that matter what if Israel retaliates because British terrorists committed terrorist outrages against Israel. And what if the Mumbai attacks prove to have been organized by British terrorists?

Yawn... Wonko, once again you're too o tolerant Wiping out those terrorist states is long overdue. Good luck Israel!

Gravatar Since 1948 the Arab states have denied Israels right to existance, and have used terrorists to attack her. And you wonder that Israel fights back - would our Government would show the same courage about anything.

Gravatar Since 1948 Israel has been illegally occupying the whole of Palestine and parts of all its neighbours and you wonder why they fight back? Cuts both ways Mike.

Gravatar "I wonder what the reaction would have been if the UK had bombed the Republic of Ireland when IRA terrorists attacked British soldiers"

Most of the IRA men were from the UK territory of Northern Ireland so you would have had to bomb yourselves.

Gravatar I believe Wonko that Israel was 'given' the land by international treaty, you can't then blame Jews for settling there - and for defending themselves. Nobodies saying that Israel is a perfect state, but you seem to be saying that anything an arab does is acceptable while anything Israel does is not.

Gravatar No, everything an arab does is not right. However, the Palestinians, Lebanese and Syrians have as much right to defend themselves from Israeli aggression as the Israeli's have.

If the council offered you and your family a house on a street where every one of your neighbours pledged to blow you up and kill you if you moved there woudl you still move in? Would the fact that your ancestors lived there 2,000 years ago be enough to convince you to move in? If you did move in and your new neighbours kept their promise and attacked you, would you be justified in killing half of them, taking over the houses of both your neighbours and when the police come to tell you that you can't do that you just ignore them?

Gravatar Of course an arab country has the right to defend itself, every country has that right as does every person. But if your council offerred me a house on a street, and my neighbours hated me before I moved in would I have any choice but to move in if I had nowhere else to go? And does the fact that my neighbours hate me before I've even moved in put me in the wrong - or does it prove that theres something wrong with my neighbours? And, quite honestly Wonko, if my neighbours attacked me for daring to breath I would feel quite justified in killing half of them, or as many as necessary to preserve my life - and if the police expected me to go back to a position where I again would be open to attack I would feel myself justified in ignoring them! I just don't get it, Wonko, you speak so much sense on so many subjects - yet you seem to justify Hamas entering Israel and kidnapping a citizen (albeit a soldier). Hamas must have known that Israel would retaliate, they always do - so why wonder when they do?

Gravatar It is as absurd for the Israelis to claim a 'homeland' after 2000 years as it would be for we English to decide to move back to Engeln en masse. If our sentimental government along with the US had kept our nose out of middle eastern affairs post WW2 the jews would now have found a 'homeland' - one that in fact houses more of their number than Israel does - the US.However that would have had a negative effect on the arms industry of that country!

Gravatar "It is as absurd for the Israelis to claim a 'homeland' after 2000 years as it would be for we English to decide to move back to Engeln en masse."

2000 years may be an easy number to remember, but does not correlate well with the facts.

To which English are you referring when you refer to "English .. move back to England en masse"? Australians, Canadians? Have they een away for 2000 years? Perhaps you mistakenly consider them to be the 13th tribe of Israel. Anyway, for my part they would be welcome. More welcome than certain recent arrivals in any case.

"If our sentimental government ... had kept our nose (sic) out of middle eastern affairs post WW2"

The British government effected a policy, in the immediate aftermath of WW2, of preventing Jewish refugees from reaching Palestine, and abstained from the UN vote to partition Palestine. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ 194..._Partition_Plan

Gravatar William, if the native Americans demanded the return of their homeland would it be acceptable to partition the USA? How about the Aboriginies in Australia? Would you give Northern Ireland back to the Scots? How about giving eastern Germany back to the Poles and eastern Poland back to the Russians? Should western Russia be given back to the Finns? What about partitioning New Zealand - North Island for the New Zealanders and South Islands for the Maori's?

Same principles and, with the exception of the Scots, all much, much more recent than Israel's claim to Palestine.

If you don't agree to all of the above then how can you agree to Israel's 2,000 year old claim to Palestine?

Gravatar I will consider answering your hypothetical questions when I have received an answer to my questions above (posted by Mark).
