Is anyone actually surprised by stories such as this anymore?

It was made painfully clear that the Raj-friendly quangocrats at NICE regard English lives as dispensible during the Herceptin 'debate'; a debate which was only stilled when the level of public awareness in England about this naked apartheid was raised sufficiently to worry their political masters.

So it will be with Velcade, though sadly, as can be seen from the letters published on the Mail's site, not before lives are needlessly lost. But then again, they're only English lives aren't they, so that's alright then, isn't it...

By the way, did anyone else notice that a health authority in the Midlands is seriously thinking of challenging the registration of Herceptin for use in the twenty percent of cases in which it would be beneficial?

Only in England, of course. Madness. Utterly indefensible, prejudiced, apartheid-like, racist, yes racist madness.
