I think what they have done is fundamentally and completely wrong. They have attacked the Lebanese nation for the actions of a terrorist group based there. The attacks were indiscriminate, killing hundreds of innocent civillians who were described as collatoral damage. Lebanon was attacked as an act of agression. Hezbollah isn't a nation so they couldn't go to war with them in retaliation so they attacked Lebanon as a proxy enemy being the weakest of their neighbours, historical enemies and one of the countries (not the only one) that has active Hezbollah groups in it.

If Israel is in the right then why has every other country in the world except the US and UK officially criticised them over their actions? It's because they're in the wrong.
