"The European Federation has already crippled our legal system with the European Convention on Human Rights"
The EU really has nothing to do with ECHR, that is the other European body, The Council of Europe http://www.coe.int/ the one Churchill was so keen on.
It is a bit confusing because we also have The European Council, which is a meeting of the heads of state or government of the European Union, and the President of the European Commission. http://www.consilium.europa.eu/c...age.ASP?
lang=en
The European Union has its own human Rights movement informally known as the Beano ( see Keith Vas) THE CHARTER OF FUNDAMENTAL RIGHTS OF THE UNION.
This of course forms part of the EU Constitution which as it is yet to be ratified, means that the charta has no legal force, not as if that makes a difference to the EU leaders who are happily proceeding to implement many parts of the constitution including the charta before the ratification process has been completed.
Sorry to preach on that small point, I do agree with the main thrust of your post and like you feel pd off with the onward march of EU unification over the heads of the European peoples, democratic it ain`t.
Unfortunately the problem is at home in Britian with our own elected leaders, only they can say yes or no to this proposal the EU cannot force them to give up our veto. If only we had a choice at the ballot box, as far as I can see at present, we have Pro-EU Labour Pro-EU Conservative and Pro-EU Lib Dem`s.
Cameron says he would like to see a new British Bill of Rights, yet will leave the ECHR in place that means our Bill of Rights would become secondary to the ECHR. If the EU Charta of Fundamental Rights is adopted by the back door that would also take precedence of the new Bill of Rights.
That of course is ignoring our present Bill of Rights 1689 which specifically states that any changes to it are illegal and also that no authority can be granted to a foreign power over the British people (English) or lands.

Ken,
When I say the European Federation, I mean the whole rotten federalist bureaucracy - the EU, the Council of Europe, the European Commission and every other undemocratic, unwanted enemy of England on the continent.
I really can't get my head around Cameron's British Bill of Rights. We have a Bill of Rights in England - the problem isn't that the Bill of Rights isn't fit for the job, the problem is that the establishment break it constantly. If the British government would abide by the law we wouldn't need a British Bill of Rights. There's also the fact that we don't have a set of common British values - the Scots and Welsh think that it's acceptable to beat up children and disabled people because they're English whereas the reverse isn't acceptable.
