Gravatar So where'd you learn the technique? Vogue Knitting? The back pages of IK? Was it hard to master? Etc.

The socks are pretty spiffy. Love those autumn colors.

Gravatar When knitting in the round, if the first stitch on the needle is a purl:
1) draw yarn through purl st from left to right.
2) draw yarn through last knit st (it will be on the other needle the first time, and the last st slipped off the needle thereafter) and the second st on the working needle from right to left.
3) draw yarn through purl st again, this time from right to left.
4) Slip first and second sts off needle.
5) Repeat until eyes cross.
The only tricky part is finding that first knit st again in step 2.

(No, Ruth did not learn it from me. It's one of several techniques I've volunteered to teach her that she Had To Learn Herself. This is what happens when you spend your days with a 3-year-old.)

(I have no idea what you do if the first st is not a purl, so I just make darn sure that it is.)

Gravatar Doesn't that feel better? Don't you love a finished project? Especially when it's a gift!

Gravatar You love a happy ending, and I love those socks! What a great colorway, and as a Chicago suburbanite, I too love the name!
