Great sleuthing!! I've wondered about that model myself.
And such a sweet story about your Mom's scarf. Lovely post.

Ruth - the scarf looks like a nice pattern. Will you post the FO?

I too always wondered about her. Do you think she might have the best hand-knit sweater collection around? I wonder if she gets to keep what she wears.
That's too cute about your parents, too. I haven't knit a thing for my mom, but I keep hoping she'll pick up her needles again. A year and counting, now...

That's so sweet about your mom's scarf. I bet she'll cry tears of joy to find that you've made her another one.
Thanks for solving the model mystery. My only question is who is the other IK model we're always seeing? The redhead. She's everywhere lately!

Funny - I want to know about the red-haired IK model, the one who looks so good in all the patterns in Wrap Style that I had to buy the book.

Who knew that becoming a knit-wear model could make one the subject of such intrigue!
I do hope the scarf turns out - it's so sad that it was lost, but so nice that it is appreciated. I'm guessing your poor mother felt so bad that she didn't want to tell you herself! :-( And -wow - how wonderful that you still have the same yarn! Awesome!!

You have a fortunate mother indeed. And I too often wondered about that model -- she's beautiful in kind of an off kilter sort of way. Now I know! Funny -- I think there are fewer than 6 degrees of seperation in knitting...

You are such a good daughter!
I, too, am always curious about the models in IK -- I like the one with short dark hair, and demanded my hairdresser attempt to replicate her flippy little 'do.

that model not only seems to be omnipresent, but she has NEVER AGED. I have an Interweave from about 5 years ago, and she looks exactly the same now as she did then.
Thanks for sharing the sleuthing--I've been wondering, too!

There have been other bloggers that have wondered about her too ... someone wrote to the mag to find out, if my memory serves me right. I too noticed her absence in the last one - maybe she got another modeling gig!

Well, thanks for clearing that up. I knew what the model's name was, but I didn't even think to connect her with Pam Allen, but now I know. I've also jumped to conclusions about what has happened to her when I haven't seen her gracing the pages of IK. I wonder if she knits. . .
We swam with penguins in South America -- it was an awesome experience. I hope your parents had a good time, despite the scarf trouble, and I can't wait to see the new scarf.

Ruth- found your page via the link from Knitting News Cast. I, too, have wondered who that model was, especially since I bought Scarf Style last winter. As you know, she is featured throughout the book. The reason for my curiosity is that this person looks so much like me, she could be my younger sister. Uncanny! Thanks for clearing up the mystery.

Thanks so much for identifying Caitlin - she is the most beautiful model I've seen in a long time. She has personality and character, unlike the soulless non-entities you usually see. A dead-ringer for Toby McGuire too. The red-head, and the lady of color are beautiful as well. Unfortunately, IK has totally changed and I'm so upset - the clothes are so stupid - unwearable; and they've completely dropped the favorite models. The new models are nothings.
