I watch this with all of my friends as a big joke, and when i realized SigEp sponsored this event I was thrilled. What other fraternity sponsers nationally televised events like this!?
I wonder how many of the participants of this competition end up joining just because they remember SigEp sponsoring the event?
Also, I know that we have the "Sound Mind" covered. What are we sponsoring to cover the "Sound Body" part of our mission?

SigEp has been a "BEE" sponsor for about 4 years. Most of the participants are not quite old enough "yet" to go to college. In another four or 5 years we might see some effect. However one thing it does do is to give a chapter another part of the SigEp "story" for potential members - and parents.
I think the SigEp's participation in the BEE is more of a PR campaign that we truly are a partner in higher education. Think of the press that is there as well as the amount of well rounded college educated adults. The impact that SigEp has on the participants is a bonus as well.
As we are scanning the news items for SigEp references there is always a big spike when the BEE comes along.
Typically there is a Press release put out by the BEE folks that lists all the sponsors. Then every newspaper that has qualifying contests will run items about the area participancts and they almost always use the press release as filler for the article. The result is that SigEp gets mentioned in a bunch of aticles all over the country.
The other name for PR is "advertising you don't have to pay for." Nice leverage!
I see a PR Bonanza. Yeee Hawwww! I grew up in Reno, NV and it brings a tear to my eye to know that the Bonanza Ranch was closed down recently, but hey, at least I can spell it. Let the PR Circus continue, I guess; since it's not a bad thing for SigEp, unlike many other "frat" mentions in various newspapers around the nation where many of the papers and TV cycles can't get past the negative publicity.
