Gravatar You know, now we're finally leaving Iraq I don't quite know what to think of it. I was always (and still am) against the war but since we are already there, we might as well stay. I don't think we've should have gone to Iraq in the first place, but we can't do anything about that now. It seems to me that staying in Iraq would be very beneficial to diplomatic relations with the US and GB. Good diplomatic relationships are good for our economy. In this way we might even get something useful out of our mistake.

Gravatar My view before the war started (on wether or not Holland should join the fighting):

1. Dutch troops will be placed under American command and be protected by American aircover.

2. Bush, as American commander in chief, had already told lies and spread deceptions about al Qaeda and WMDs that were obvious at the time.

3. Even if the Iraqis had WMDs (not obvious at the time, at least I didn't have a clue with all the contradicting info) I could not endorse sending Dutch troops to follow someone who had lied to get our support.

So no, I don't think the Dutch troops should be there.

Now, wether I think American troops should be there:

If I were American, I wouldn't want American soldiers to go to war based on lies. But I'm not, and the Americans didn't seem to mind.

I thought the whole UN-business didn't pass muster. You have a new resolution (the one that got the inspectors back in). Dozens of diplomats must have been involved in crafting that one. And it talked
