Great thing to have your family over there, the single Marines must be a whole lot more miserable over this...

Not to say you aren't, not what I'm saying at all. But having a wife to go home too, kids to hug, must make it a bit easier to stomach under these unfortunate circumstances.

The upside, if there is one, is maybe LCpl so and so can buy himself that new pretty new truck back home eventually, since he's not blowing it somewhere within the 'gut'. Outside those gates right now...

There has been some media coverage of this here stateside. I'm waiting for John Murtha to make an announcement decrying all Marines.

My X spent some time in Oki and the same things happened back then-- only people were much quieter about it all.

It really would be awful to find out the girl was a prostitute and did this just for monetary reasons- but that wouldn't shock me at all.

As well... when a single girl leaves a bar with a man... hello!?! What the hell does she expect? Not that the Marine in question shouldn't have his butt kicked really hard if he's guilty.

Raven: Thanks; I hadn't seen that yet. More bowing and kissing of asses, it would seem. No mention of the local national that was just arrested for raping a teen girl...

Smantha: You're preaching to the choir on this one. Whenever you get a few thousand people together (from any group/cross-section), you're going to encounter idiots and such. Military crime in Okinawa has declined over the past five years...no mention of that in local news here.
